Before Choosing a Wedding Venue, Read This

Here at A Bargain Minister in Denver, we want to share how to choose a wedding venue. Where are you getting married? It is a common question for engaged couples. It used to be a simple choice but now there are so many options to choose that getting a venue seems much more complicated. These five rules will help you figure it out.

Rule One: Know Your Logistics

The most important rule when choosing a wedding venue is logistics, how many guests a prospective venue will fit, special accommodations needed for your guests, venue availability for the season, times the venue can be used, ability to accommodate your themed wedding and more. Figuring this out upfront can help you narrow the venue field.

Consider figuring out your guest list early or be willing to tailor it to your wedding venue if necessary. If you plan for 150 people and your venue will really only fit 80, there will clearly be an issue. You don’t necessarily need a firm count, but a rough idea of how big you want your wedding to be will help you eliminate venues that cannot accommodate your needs or venues that will be oversized for your intimate affair.

Rule Two: Visit on the Right Day

Be sure to visit your wedding venue on a day and time that matches when your wedding will be held. If you plan to marry at 10 a.m. on a Saturday, it doesn’t make sense to visit your venue at 6 p.m. on a Wednesday. The time will help you realize issues such as lighting, temperature, and ambiance, as well as parking. Bring your wedding planner or coordinator with you; they will spot other issues for you as well.

Rule Three: Know Whether Your Vendor is Full-Service

A full-service venue offers everything: catering, tables, chairs, linens, and more. A non-full-service venue will only offer some amenities so you will need to book various vendors for your wedding and take care of most of the details. Some venues have vendor rules or specific vendors for you to use. Knowing details will help you make a final determination.

Rule Four: Decide Your Style

If you really want a modern minimalist wedding, a quaint barn venue is not going to create the look you want. Knowing the style you want will also help you make other choices quickly. For example, an intimate wedding may not require a blasting DJ or a large catered affair. If you happen to be looking for a small chapel venue, contact us to see our own A Bargain Minister venue in Denver.

Rule Five: Ask all Your Questions and Ask More

Be sure to make a list of questions and get answers from the right person. Oftentimes, you will ask multiple people the same question and get all different answers. To avoid any last minute fuss, you will want to get confirmed answers in writing whenever possible.

Knowing how to choose a wedding venue will help you find the location that is right for you. If you want to look at our venue or if you want a minister for your wedding, contact us here at A Bargain Minister of Denver. We look forward to being a part of your big day!
