For many wedding celebrations, the bride and groom will have children whom they’d like to be a key part of the day. This might be together, or for youngsters who come from their separate past relationships. In the latter case, I feel it’s so important to emphasize the joy of two families being bound into a single, stronger unit.
Depending on their age, the kids can play a key part, but also be involved in the decision-making, so it is also ‘their day’. For example, at one wedding I heard of, the daughter of the groom chose to read her favorite poem ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’. Those attending loved it!
As an experienced wedding officiant, I’m always keen to help build this involvement, but in a way that’s just right for the happy couple and their children. You can talk to me about this, and all other wedding service matters.
